Traditional Malay Dance for Adults

We’re back for another season of traditional Malay Dance classes for adults!

This dance and movement class introduces traditional Malay dance from the Nusantara that has been adapted and popularised in this region. Whether you are picking up a new hobby or trying to reconnect with traditional genres like Inang and Zapin, this class is for you!

No prior dance training required.

Happening every Monday evening from 14 April 2025 till 30 June 2025, 8pm - 9.30pm.

$35 per participant, max 16 participants per session.

All classes sold are strictly non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and non-refundable unless otherwise approved by management. Any requests for exceptions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of the management.

The Instructor

3lfi Ismail

Mohammad Elfi Bin Ismail, also known by his stage name 3lfi Ismail, is trained in both the traditional and contemporary Malay art form. He has attended dance workshops conducted by Istana Budaya (KL, Malaysia), Swatari Pak Ngah Production(KL, Malaysia), Nyala Dance Theatre(KL, Malaysia), Sri Warisan Som Said Performing Arts Ltd(Singapore), Era Dance Theatre Ltd (Singapore) and Matej Kejžar(Slovenia).

He achieved the Career Certificate In Performing Arts with Enfiniti Academy in September 2020 with the support of the National Arts Council (CDSA). In 2014, he completed a masterclass in Choreography at Jakarta Institute of the Arts(Indonesia). In 2017 he founded T3at3r Muzikal Collective and staged its first Malay musical in February 2018 with 5 sold out performances at the Gateway blackbox theatre.
